Ability to communicate orally and in written form with donors, board members, residents, clients, families, staff, external partners and the general public are essential
Good judgment and the ability to make decisions independently as well as to work with a team are necessary Intermediate electronic technology skills especially related to GSuite, fundraising databases (Results Plus, PG Calc) and spreadsheets are required
Intermediate skills in such areas as project management, performance improvement, operational initiatives, customer service and budget planning and monitoring are preferred
Additional Skills and Characteristics:
The VP of Donor Development is responsible for advancing the mission of Messiah Lifeways through fundraising, donor cultivation, and stewardship efforts. The VP of Donor Development is responsible to effectively operate in an organizational culture characterized by teamwork, openness, engagement, and deliverable results and must successfully collaborate across departments
Education/Professional Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in fundraising, development, and/or financial services preferred
Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership positions in leadership roles in senior housing, hospitality, health care or other related organization
Graduate of a post-secondary education program in business, theology, psychology, wellness, health care, administration or other relevant program
Experience driving financial results and experience managing operational issues
Demonstrated experience in a service-related business and a commitment to service excellence
Knowledge of fundraising ethics, development concepts and practices, financial services, and estate planning are essential
Working knowledge of (or willingness and ability to learn) retirement services fields such as Nursing Homes, Personal Care Homes, Community Services, and Continuing Care Communities is preferred
