  • Coaching: Consider organizational readiness, your career trajectory, personal finances, and relationships as inputs in developing your transition plan
  • Story: Learn through the shared experience of a peer who has gone before you
  • Inner Work: Reflect on your path through a guided framework on the stages of transition.
  • Group Processing: Listen, dialogue, and externally process within a small group to better decipher and articulate where you have been, where you are, and where you hope to go.

Learning outcomes include:

  • Understanding the Transition Process: Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of the three phases of transitions (an ending, the in-between, and a new beginning) and differentiate between change and transition as well as understanding where they are in this process.
  • Exploration of Personal Transition Readiness: Attendees will explore their readiness for retirement and identify common barriers and fears related to retirement decision-making, enabling them to better assess their current and near-future status and align personal goals with organizational needs.
  • Financial and Practical Considerations: Participants will examine personal financial planning considerations and learn best practices for positive transitioning, including when to begin conversations with the board chair and key considerations for a smooth transition.
  • Personal Visioning and Planning: Attendees will engage in reflective exercises to release expectations of self and others, discern new opportunities, and develop a plan for the future, including drafting a plan with timelines and identifying accountability partners.
