What will I do in this role with Garden Spot?
- Implement the mission, vision, and goals of the organization, upholding and promoting GSC culture, strategic blueprint, and vision.
- Participate in the development of the Strategic Blueprint and lead the execution of long-range strategic goals.
- Provide strategic input, planning, and leadership on issues affecting the organization.
- Promote innovation in aging services, cultivating new ideas and partnerships that advance the community’s reputation as a national leader.
- Develop new opportunities for practical application of the organization’s mission: Inspired by the life of Jesus, we cultivate vibrant community for purposeful living.
- Ensure efficient, person-centered, day-to-day operations across all levels of care, including independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing.
- Plan, direct, and evaluate the activities of the campus leadership team.
- Ensure development of sound programs, best practices, policies, and procedures relating to resident services, health care services, risk management, and quality assurance.
- Oversee campus development, facilities management, and capital projects in collaboration with senior leadership.
- Provide timely and accurate analyses, reports, and recommendations to Garden Spot Communities concerning the operation of the community.
- Inspire, mentor, and support a diverse team of leaders and staff, fostering a culture of excellence, accountability, innovation, and compassion.
- Attract, interview, and hire individuals who have the ability to perform their job functions well.
- Support talent development through coaching, succession planning, and continuous learning initiatives.
- Promote collaboration by developing a culture within the community which supports exemplary teamwork through resident and staff participation in decision making.
- Contribute to creating and maintaining a work climate that encourages positive staff morale, motivation, and commitment to the mission of the organization.
- Work with the community team and GSC leadership to enhance our Family, Resident, and Team Member experience.
- Foster a positive, inclusive community experience that encourages resident discovery of purpose, empowerment, engagement, and well-being.
- Serve as a visible and approachable leader, building trust with residents, families, and staff.
- Follow Residents’ Rights policies at all times.
- Collaborate with the CFO to develop and manage budgets, financial reports, and operational benchmarks.
- Ensure the organization’s fiscal solvency and financial sustainability while maintaining exceptional levels of service and care.
- Promote a positive image by connecting and representing Garden Spot Village in the external community.
- Maintain important relationships with civic leadership, professional associations, other Mennonite community staff and boards, families and friends of residents, donors, and the public-at-large.
- Represent Garden Spot Village in local, regional, and national forums to enhance community presence and influence in senior living innovation.
- Build relationships with external partners, including healthcare providers, nonprofits, government agencies, and industry peers.
- Support the work of the board in their governance capacity.
- Abide by the organization’s code of conduct and compliance program.
- Maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements and accreditation standards.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
What do I need for this role with Garden Spot?
- Successful experience in leading a complex organization and interacting with the larger community.
- Minimum 7-10 years of progressive leadership experience in senior living, healthcare, or related fields.
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree in Healthcare Administration, Business Administration, Gerontology, or related field strongly preferred.
- Pennsylvania NHA (Nursing Home Administrator) license preferred or ability to obtain within a defined period.
- Strong financial acumen and understanding of regulatory compliance.
- Exceptional interpersonal, communication, and public speaking skills.
- Provide excellent customer service to residents, staff, volunteers, families, visitors and vendors.
- Demonstrate attention to detail and organizational ability.
- An understanding of and willingness to live out our mission and values, providing compassionate person-centered care to all residents
