72nd MHS Assembly Recap

By Riley Mills April 2, 2025

In late March, 154 MHS Association members and partners gathered in Pittsburgh, PA to take part in the 72nd annual MHS Assembly.

Each year, a new location is chosen to host this event, alternating cities to accommodate membership that spans the entirety of the US. This year, we were joined by the largest group since 2019! Attendees joined us in the heart of the city, spending their evenings enjoying the multitude of top-tier dining options and exploring the easily walkable downtown area.

The three-day conference hosted 15 workshops, 2 pre-conference sessions, and 6 keynote speakers. Workshops spanned topics on dementia care, demographic shifts, organizational transitions, and values-based finance – all leaning into the overarching theme of this year’s event; Magnify.

All attendees gathered together each day for general sessions anchored in joy, wisdom and the leadership imagination, and magnifying mission. Clare Krabill, MHS Association COO opened up the first MHS Assembly 2025 general session with a message of Magnifying –

“As we consider you, the members of MHS Association, we see signs of your growth. Growth in your programming, an increase in your reach, and your impact being held in esteem.

Our goal over the next several days is to build upon that. We hope to inspire you, provide you with resources to look more closely at and expand upon your joy, imagination, wisdom, leadership, mission, network, and partnerships. This is why we gather.”

Leadership development opportunities, insights on governance, and the opportunity to grow are all at the foundation of MHS Assembly’s purpose, but in addition to that, it’s an opportunity for association members to gather together and connect in faith, mission, and learning.

In 2026, we are eager to co-host The Gathering, a 3-day conference, which will take place March 24-26 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis, IN. The conference is a first-time collaboration of the Council for Health and Human Services Ministries (CHHSM), the merged organization of MHS Association (MHS) and Friends Services Alliance (FSA), Methodist Ministries Network (MMN), and the Presbyterian Association of Homes & Services for the Aging (PAHSA).

The conference will offer presentations from leaders who have demonstrated how to lift the human spirit. Topics for a variety of workshops will be generated by our associations’ members and business partners, bringing fresh ideas, innovative approaches, and best practices. In large and small group settings, we will celebrate, discern, and strategize for the future.

We hope to see you there!
